In the course of career orientation, pupils should consider their future career aspirations and opportunities.
In doing so, they recognize their interests and abilities and reflect on expectations. Work should be recognized as a central factor for people and their living environment. In addition, training paths and training opportunities in Austria are a main topic.
In the third grade, a team of teachers teaches interdisciplinary career guidance in project lessons spread over the winter and summer semesters. Topics include: self-image – image of others, interests, desired profession – dream profession, work, labor market, overview of educational paths in Austria, etc.
A visit to a careers information center and the parents’ evening “14 – what now?” kick off the fourth grade. In addition, the pupils visit a company of their own choice as part of “work experience days” and get to know this workplace. The work done during these days is reflected on in a portfolio.
