The ongoing digitalization and the resulting increased use of digital devices and media in everyday school life require uniform guidelines. The points listed below are generally applicable and provide the corresponding guidelines for our school.

  1. Manners – The basis for dealing with each other at school – online and offline – is mutual respect. Internet use must not damage the reputation of individuals, a class or the school.
  2. Dangerous and prohibited content – The use and distribution of illegal content or content that is unsuitable for students is prohibited. This includes, among other things, sexual abuse, pornographic, violence-glorifying, discriminatory, radicalizing or extremist content as well as content that is subject to the Prohibition Act.
  3. Copyrights andpersonal data – Copyrighted material (texts, music, films, programs, photos, etc.) and personal data may only be published on the Internet with the consent of the author or the person concerned.
  4. Access data – Access data (school network, learning platforms, etc.) must not be passed on and must be stored adequately and securely.
  5. Risk of plagiarism – If Internet content is used for presentations, homework or similar, the relevant passages must be marked and the source cited accordingly.
  6. Media – Photos and videos of people may only be taken and published on the internet with the consent of those depicted. Up to the age of 14, written parental consent is required. Under no circumstances may the situation be detrimental to the persons depicted, expose them or belittle them.
  7. Maintenance – Virus protection and system updates must be up to date on all digital devices that are connected to the school network.
  8. Digital media in class and during supervision hours – The use of digital devices in class and during supervision hours is permitted for teaching purposes with the permission of the respective teacher. The concluded media usage contract is valid during daycare supervision hours.
  9. Cyberbullying – In the event of bullying via digital channels – cyberbullying – the school takes all possible measures under school law. In addition, the victim can defend themselves through civil action and also claim damages. Parents are liable in such cases for children up to the age of 14.
  10. Communication-free time – In the interests of a sensible balance between work and free time, we recommend that all members of our school community (pupils, teachers, parents, management and administration) only send messages or inquiries at weekends and on public holidays in exceptional cases.
  11. Digital Detox – At BernoulliGymnasium, the use of digital devices is prohibited for lower school classes during all breaks. Digital devices must be locked in the locker. Alternatively, digital devices can be used for timetable information, short messages, etc. at the end of lessons. There are also suggestions on how to organize breaks.
  12. Violations – In the event of gross or repeated violations of this agreement, the following measures will be taken: Discussion with the pupil, removal of the device, discussion with parents and written agreement, early warning, blocking of the app store in agreement with the parents/guardians, application for exclusion of the pupil (§ 49 para. 2 SchUG).
  13. Examination environment – Work steps are recorded and temporarily saved on all devices in the IT rooms at BernoulliGymnasium. Students accept this logging of work on the stationary school devices.

Points 1 to 6 correspond to the recommended Safer Internet guidelines and have essentially been adopted (as at: 3.2.2023). Unanimous resolution of the School Community Committee (SGA) on 3.6.2024.
