LETTER TO PARENTS (2.4.2020)
Dear parents!
We will soon have three weeks of the coronavirus crisis behind us with many restrictions and closed schools. I hope you have been able to cope well with this challenging time. We are aware that the current home quarantine and distance learning also pose great challenges for your family. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, dear parents, students and teachers, for your commitment, flexibility and reliability. As you have probably already seen in the media, Federal Minister Heinz Faßmann announced in a press conference on March 31, 2020 that there will be no regular lessons until the end of April, but that distance learning and homeschooling will continue. Teachers will maintain regular and structured contact with their students via existing communication channels. Pupils must be available for this on a binding basis. Of course, BernoulliGymnasium will also offer supervision for lower school pupils after the Easter vacations if required . This offer of childcare at the school site is primarily aimed at parents who belong to a system-preserving professional group (healthcare, police, trade, etc.). However, families should also take advantage of the service before it becomes overloaded, regardless of the parents’ professional background. As before, as many AHS lower school pupils as possible should NOT come to school if home care is possible in order to minimize the risk of infection. We need the following information for planning purposes. If you need childcare, please copy the lines below , fill them in and send them to [email protected]

The Vienna Education Directorate states “that there will be no lessons during this period, but that the children will only be supervised. Children who are supervised at school will work with the materials they have received from their teachers.”
Further information
- As there were no registrations for childcare during the Easter vacations by Wednesday, April 1, 2020, the school will be closed during the Easter vacations.
- After the Easter vacations, we will set up a “handover/drop-off system” in the assembly hall. Between 07:30 and 11:00, you will have the opportunity to pick up announced work assignments and hand in completed assignments in compliance with the hygiene regulations (e.g. minimum distance of one meter).
- Teachers decide with the head of the class whether new subject matter is covered or subject matter is deepened in distance learning.
- The Ministry of Education will set up a hardship fund for canceling school events.
- The exact schedule for the school-leaving examination will be announced by the Ministry of Education after Easter. According to current planning, the central school-leaving exam will begin on Tuesday, 19.5.2020 with the exam in German.
- The VHS will also offer an online program for all those lower school students who are not currently enrolled in the VHS learning assistance program and need support. Please contact the VHS directly if required.
