Letter to parents: School operation from 18.1. – 22.1.2021, registration for childcare (lower school), self-tests
Vienna, on 13.1.2021
Dear parents!
Events are coming thick and fast these days – perhaps some of the information about the start of school has already reached you via the media. Education Minister Heinz Faßmann announced today that schools in Austria will now open a week later than planned, on January 25. The plan is to proceed gradually, “whereby the lower number of pupils in school is an essential component”, according to Faßmann. However, if the lockdown is extended, schools will probably close again.
- All pupils (lower and upper school) will remain in distance learning for the time being. However, the school remains open for supervision and pedagogical support (lower school). Registration is required (see below).
- Pupils at the AHS upper secondary level are generally in distance learning, but can return to school on a class or day basis so that performance assessments and appropriate preparation can take place.
- From Monday, 25.1.2021, according to current planning, there will be a return to regular school operations for some pupils (shift operation). All details will be sent to you next week.
- BernoulliGymnasium offers childcare (8:00 am to 1:45 pm) and day care (1:45 pm to 5:10 pm) for pupils in the lower school during the period when classes are not held at the school.
You have the opportunity to register your child for the period 18.1. – 22.1.2021 by Friday, 15.1.2021 10:00 a.m. at the latest.
- Registration for care/daycare is possible on an hourly basis.
All pupils, regardless of their parents’ or guardians’ professional background, can take advantage of this care and support. It is also advisable to make use of this care if the situation at home is causing serious disadvantages for your child. - The supervision takes place in EDP 3. Your child can therefore use the PCs. Please bring your own headset (headphones and microphone) for video conferences.
- The school buffet is closed. The vending machines are still available and are regularly refilled.
- If your child does not have a digital device at home, please register your child (lower school) for childcare.
- All persons in the school building must wear a face mask (MNS). The use of face shields (so-called “face shields” or “mini face shields”) is not permitted.
- From the time school opens (whenever that will be for your child), there are voluntary, gentle self-tests (“as easy as picking your nose”). The result is known within 15 minutes.
- Pupils test under supervision at school.
- Children under the age of 14 must present a declaration of consent from their parents. So take it with you on the first day of school!
- Self-tests are voluntary and free of charge.
- The submission deadline for all “decisions” (2nd grade: type selection; 4th to 5th grade; 5th grade: compulsory electives; 6th grade RG: ACG-BIUK/PH; ME-BE) will be postponed from 22.1. to 29.1.2021.
